STATE OF THE ASSOCIATION:

from the desk of Bill Noel...

January 2009

The Seven Hills Lake Property Owners Association is off to a great start. The Holiday Pot Luck dinner was a resounding success, thanks once again to our Social Committee. The party actually proved to be a profitable event for the Association, due to the 50/50 drawing and the participation of everyone at the party, and the generosity of the winner Jose Ocampo, who donated his half of the drawing to the Association! Stacy Mason our neighborhood vocalist provided excellent live entertainment.

We are planning to continue making the giant improvements in the quality of the lake, as we have been for a number of years now. Weed control continues to be a never ending battle but the Association continues to decrease the weed problem each year.

For 2009, we are planning an even more aggressive stance against the weed growth and this year expect to advance our fight north in an attempt to control the explosion of the water lilies. The key to fighting the weeds and keeping the great water quality is money; it simply costs a small fortune every year to maintain and try to improve the quality of the lake.

We are succeeding in court due to the legal efforts of our attorney and fellow property owner Katherine Hall. The law is very clear and we know that we are going to eventually be paid all of the past due money.

Copies of some of the case law and Katherine's legal motions are here CaseLaw for everyone to review and understand.

With people paying the continuing and extremely modest annual dues of $175.00 in 2009, plus our collecting past dues from those who may need to be convinced in court, we will have a bigger budget to do more work to fight the weed problem and improve the beach and both the tennis and basketball courts. We have been struggling for a long time from a simple lack of money to do everything that has been needed and we are constantly playing catch up on the work.

2009 will be a breakthrough year for the Association thanks to efforts of the Board and Ms. Hall to collect what is legally and properly due to the Association. Hopefully, we will be able to get all of our pending and expected lawsuits filed and collected this year. Suing our neighbors is not a pleasant task - and one that we have tried to avoid - but a task that will be completed.

Our web site as you can see has under gone tremendous improvement, due to the efforts of our Webmaster and new Board member Rick Kennell. Rick needs and wants your feedback about the site as it is a "live" creature that needs constant information to grow and serve our Association. Please click here webmaster to reach Rick with your news and suggestions.

Your Board meets every month to plan the Association's present and future, and hopefully our plans reflect what you want and expect to have from being a property owner in the Seven Hills Lake Property Association.

We live in an amazing area with an incredible resource in our lake so please help us to make 2009 a great year for us all!
